Now unbelievably I’ve never actually tried any Too Faced palettes so this is a new experience for me! Now in hindsight this may not have been the best first palette to buy as I’ve heard the chocolate bar palettes are absolutely exceptional and a heck of a lot more impressive than the Sweet Peach palette. Nonetheless, I bought it and gave it a whirl! Now for me, this palette is very hit and miss – there are some really beautiful shades and there are a few that are a bit meh.
Firstly, I like that there is a mixture of both matte and shimmer shades. My favourite matte shades in this palette are Puree (a medium brown with reddish tones) and also Charmed I’m Sure ( a slightly darker and deeper brown). Considering this is a ‘sweet peach’ palette, I actually found the peachier colours to be a lot more disappointing in this palette. The lighter matte shades like Peaches ‘N Cream and Georgia are almost non-existent. As pretty as they are in the palette, they have poor pigmentation and don’t really show up on the skin.
The lightest shade in this palette, White Peach is a very faint white matte shade which again doesn’t really show up too well on the skin. Within the palette there is also a couple of purple toned shades, the darkest being Delectable and Talk Derby To Me. They both have a slight shimmer to them and aren’t as bold and scary as they first appear in the palette. I do love purple shades and think they look really nice but it isn’t a colour that I am often drawn towards on a regular basis.
[L-R] White Peach, Luscious, Just Peachy, Bless Her Heart, Tempting, Charmed I’m Sure
[L-R] Nectar, Cobbler, Candied Peach, Bellini, Peach Pit, Delectable
[L-R] Peaches ‘N Cream, Georgia, Caramelized, Puree, Summer Yum, Talk Derby To Me
As well as the purple toned shades, there are also a couple of unusual green shades within the palette. Bless Her Heart is a a light-medium olive colour with silvery flecks and a frosted finish to it. This is actually a really pretty colour and one I was slightly surprised to see in this palette. Alongside this is the much darker shade Tempting. Now this looks like a really deep forest green to me in the palette but it actually comes through as a dark brown/black shade with shimmer running through it. The really dark shimmer shades in this palette are actually nowhere near as shimmery as they look which for most people is probably a good thing as they do look quite daunting in the palette but are a lot more wearable than they appear.
For me the best thing about this palette are the lighter shimmer shades that really pop on application. There are some really lovely, wearable tones in this palette. My favourites have to be Cobbler (a pale rose-gold shimmer shade), Caramelized (a medium toned Bronze shade with a lovely frosted shimmer), Bellini (a peachy pink shade with a gold shimmer) and Peach Pit (a medium brown/almost brick red shade).
All in all, Too Faced have released a really pretty palette and I love the whole novelty of the Sweet Peach theme and the palette even smelling of peaches. There are a few let down shades in the palette, most notably the shades on both the lightest and darkest end of the spectrum which don’t really pack much of a punch. The in between shades, most notably the shimmer shades are absolutely gorgeous and will definitely be shades that I reach for on a more regular basis.
Do you own any Too Faced palettes? Which is your favourite? Have you tried the Sweet Peach palette?
