Inside the M&S and Look Fantastic Advent Calendars

I was lucky enough to receive both the M&S and Look Fantastic advent calendars as part of my Christmas presents from my parents. Yes, I may be late opening them, but boy was it good to open all the doors at once! It’s the first year that I’ve received a beauty advent calendar but I very much believe that they are great value for money. Both calendars included some full sized products and you get a great range of different products such as haircare, skincare and beauty from a whole range of brands, both recognised brands and ones that I am personally new too. It’s a great way of testing and trying out new products without buying them individually. Here’s a look at my instant favourites from both calendars…

M&S Beauty Advent Calendar

For a start, this beauty advent calendar is so pretty! It’s in the shape of a red Christmas tree and is incredibly festive! I’ve kept the box so that I can hopefully re-use it next year and make my own advent calendar. This calendar is for a total of 25 days and a couple of the products were full sized which was really impressive. This was on sale for £35.00 if you spent £35.00 in store and is one of the more reasonably priced beauty advent calendars. I’ve tried and tested some, but not all of the products and my highlights so far are:

Rodial Super Acids X-Treme Acid Rush Peel

Now as the name would suggest, this product is packed full of glycolic and lactic acids to help exfoliate and retexture the skin. I really like using products with glycolic acid in as they tend to help with my acne scars. This peel is really easy to use and although it says its extreme, there is only a minor tingling sensation when you use the product. You only have to leave the product on for 10-15 minutes and then wash off as normal. I’ve only used this once so far but loved the results and my skin was definitely feeling softer afterwards.

Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm

I was a little unsure of this product as I had previously used the LUSH Ultrabalm which I didn’t like the consistency of. I normally opt for either a foaming or gel cleanser as I prefer the formulation and feel on my skin. I tend to find cleansing balms a little greasy, however, I have heard so much about this particular balm so I am keen to give it a go and see what the fuss is all about!

 Philip Kingsley Elasticizer

I’ve been on the look out for a hair product that would give my hair a little bit oomph and help keep in great condition and this might just be that product! It’s said to strengthen hair and add elasticity to it as well as adding some bounce and shine. I recently had my hair cut into a bob and it can sometimes look a little bit dry and brittle so I’m hoping this product restores it back to full health.

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner

It may be 2017 but I’m still loving the cat eye look. I’m currently loving both the Soap and Glory Supercat liner and the newly received Kat Von D Tattoo liner but I’m always on the lookout for new liners and Eyeko is a brand I have used and enjoyed before. This is a smaller travel sized version so perfect to take on holiday.

Pur Prep and Perfect Correcting Primer

Primers aren’t something that I tend to buy myself so this was a nice little surprise! I’ve tried it a couple of times and it applies like a dream. It seems to mattify the skin and also helps to balance out any redness or blemishes I have. Makeup is really easily applied on top of this as well. A great find!

Rosie for Autograph Lip Glossy in Supermodel Smile

This isn’t quite a lipstick nor quite a gloss. The packaging is really pretty and the shade Supermodel smile is a really nice day to day nude colour. The formula isn’t sticky like a normal lipgloss and glides on really nicely. I would say this is more like a tinted balm but is really nice to help nourish your lips in the cold Winter months.

Look Fantastic Beauty Advent Calendar

Illamasqua Look Fantastic Palette

Seemingly this palette is an exclusive to Look Fantastic and isn’t one that can be bought individually which makes this even more special. The shadows are really beautiful Autumnal shades and come in the colours Servant, Tango, Terra and Vernau. This is a full sized palette which normally retails at £34.00 so this is definitely a great addition to the calendar which retailed at £70.00.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

This is a brand that I’ve wanted to try for ages. I suffer with bouts of acne and so any products that aim to prevent and cure this are definitely on my wishlist. This is a unique rice-based enzyme powder which is supposed to exfoliate your skin leaving it a lot smoother and brighter so I’m definitely keen to give this one a go.

Redken One United Multi-Benefit Treatment

A hair treatment that has 25 benefits in one? Erm…yes please. ‘Hair will be softer, stronger and easier to manage with added shine and improved frizz control.’ Need I say more? If this works then I will definitely be re-purchasing!

Pixi Glow Tonic

This is a product that has been raved about all over social media and one that I have been keen to try for a while. The Pixi glow tonic is an exfoliating toner which is said to remove dead skin cells and leave your skin looking healthy and radiant. It also contains 5% glycolic acid so fingers crossed this may also assist with spots/acne scars.

Foreo Luna Play

This little electronic device is totally new to me but I am well and truly fascinated by it! Using pulsation technology and its silicone touch points, this device is said to give an intense clean and unclog pores and lift away dirt and dead skin cells. Its meant to remove 99.5% dirt and oil so this is definitely worth a go!

Okay wow that sounds and looks like a great advent calendar. Mine usually only consit of boring old chocolate. Will have a look into a more exciting one for next year though!

    Love, Kerstin
