2016 has definitely been a stellar year for beauty. I have well and truly indulged myself in beauty products this year and definitely have way more than I could possibly ever need. It certainly hasn’t stopped me though. It has however, helped me find some amazing products that are definitely my current favourites and have been favourable all year round. I didn’t pick a product for each category as somethings like concealer and mascara, I like to mix up on a regular basis, however, the products I’m about to show you are my firm favourites for 2016.
This bronzing/blush kit has been an absolute life saver in 2016. The beautiful compact palette has 5 of Benefit’s best selling and most beautiful shades. It includes Hoola, an absolute bronzing staple for me. It’s a lovely matte brown shade that suits a variety of skin tones. Rockateur is a shimmery rose gold shade and gives you a lovely radiant glow without going over the top. For someone who loves a Coral blush then Coralista definitely has you covered. For a more subtle blush, Dandelion is a beautiful baby pink colour and for the more daring, Dallas is a deeper plum shade to give you a kick of radiance.
This is the eyeshadow palette of all eyeshadow palettes. It’s a perfect mix of colours for the Autumn/Winter season. I particularly love Golden Ochre and Warm Taupe for the perfect neutral base. To give you that kick of colour then you can either opt for the deep red of Red Ochre or if pink is your jam then Love letter has your back. For the orange fans amongst us then Realgar is an amazing dark orange to make your eyes pop. There is also a couple of shimmers in the mix in the form of Vermeer, Antique Bronze and Primavera.
This was my first product from NARS and I am beyond impressed. I don’t wear this foundation daily as its definitely for special occasions. I find that this foundation lasts better than any other that I own for nights out. It is super long lasting even through eating, dancing and drinking. I opt for the shade Ceylan which is a light-medium shade with yellow undertones. I find the formula really easy to apply and it covers any blemishes or break outs that I may be suffering with. As the name suggests, it also gives you a really lovely glowy finish.
Without a doubt, this has been my go to eyeliner of 2016. I think it was Lily Melrose that convinced me to buy this one and I certainly have no regrets! I have gone through 2/3 of these bad boys and it is definitely a product that I would reach for time and time again. It is also super affordable which is a definite bonus. It’s so easy to apply even for someone like me who is very cack handed! If you are on the look out for a super intense black eyeliner with great longevity then I would wholeheartedly recommend this one!
This stuff is my absolute hidden gem and something that I have used consistently throughout the year. It is super inexpensive but bloody brilliant. I would probably say this is my favourite under eye concealer of all time. The colour choice is somewhat limited but thankfully this product suits my skin like a dream. It’s a very thick consistency but hides any darkness or signs of tiredness from my undereyes. Honestly, it’s an absolute godsend and has been an absolute fave of mine this year.
Ooooh Urban Decay, you’ve done it again. I was super excited for the launch of the Vice lipsticks and they didn’t disappoint. The hardest choice was choosing which colour to get. I decided to opt for Backtalk and Uptight from the comfort matte range and they are honestly exceptional. I love the formula. I love the shades. I love that they aren’t drying. I love how long they last. I just love them. I have a lot of lip products but these two shades are without a doubt my most used from 2016. There are 6 different finishes and 100 shades in this collection so there is definitely something for everyone.
I managed to pick up the entire rose gold set for an absolute steal online earlier this year. Yes, they are on the expensive side but without a doubt the Sigma brushes are the best that I’ve come across. The thin fibres are super soft on the skin and pick up product so easily. I particularly love the F30 large powder brush and also the E40 and E60 for eyeshadow application and blending. They have a couple of different ranges but if you are looking to seriously invest in some makeup brushes then Sigma are a great choice!
