Urban Decay is a brand that I adore. I own a lot of their eyeshadow palettes and have fallen in love with their range of Vice lipsticks. It is probably no surprise then that I decided I needed the Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation in my life. I’ve never tried their foundations before so I didn’t know quite what to expect but this foundation promises a lot of great things.
“All Nighter Liquid Foundation provides full coverage with a modern matte finish that never looks overdone. Get serious long-lasting wear and a blown-out effect you never thought was possible. Perfect for all-night affairs and other scandalous activities, our revolutionary formula is also comfortable enough to wear every day.”
This foundation lists a number of benefits it should give – Full Coverage, Longwear, Matte Finish, Waterproof and Oil Free. Sounds pretty good right? For £29.00 I certainly hoped that it would live up to the claims. I decided to pick up the foundation in the shade 4.0 which is a medium-light shade with a soft warm undertone. Now one of the benefits of this particular foundation is that it is available in 24 different shades which I think is fantastic and really caters to every skin tone.
So first up, full coverage? Without a doubt I would definitely consider this to be a full coverage foundation and the first thing I noticed is that you don’t need much product in order to apply a full base of foundation. I have mentioned before that I suffer with acne and scars and so I really love to use high coverage foundations to make my skin look as flawless as possible. This certainly delivered in this aspect and it really minimised the appearance of my scars which of course I loved.
Long wearing? Again, the foundation really delivered on this promise. I have tried and tested this foundation both for a full day’s work and also during a night out and it was still very much in tact after a good 7/8 hours. There is no need to reapply this foundation throughout the day and I was really happy with the way it looked even after a full day of wear.
Matte Finish? Yes. I normally use a more dewy and glowy foundation such as the NARS Sheer Glow or the Loreal True Match Foundation and so the finish of the UD All Nighter foundation was very different for me but I actually really, really liked it. It dried very quickly on the skin but whilst it was a matte finish, it wasn’t too dry and it didn’t exaggerate my pores or my spots. As the finish was matte, I felt comfortable that my face wasn’t going to budge or move throughout the day.
Waterproof? Now I can’t say that I was in any rain or any water when trying this foundation out so I cannot comment on whether it actually is waterproof or not, but to be honest, being waterproof isn’t really something I rely on in a foundation. If I’m going to be in a situation where I’m in close contact with water I tend not to wear much makeup anyway.
Oil Free? This foundation is said to be both oil and paraben free. I have normal/combination skin and I really loved the matte finish and at no point did the product become oily or feel like it was moving on my face. Some foundations can leave me feeling a little oily/greasy but this definitely wasn’t the case with this foundation.
Overall I really loved this foundation! Due to the price and the durability of the product it’s probably not a foundation I would use everyday but it will definitely be my go to foundation for nights out or any events I need to attend. I really enjoyed the matte finish and this is definitely a quality in a foundation that I will be looking for in future as it just really seemed to suit my skin type. The range of shades is really great and can I just take a minute to mention how beautiful the packaging is? It’s incredible! It is definitely another product that I can add to my most loved from Urban Decay and this brand for me, is absolutely smashing it at the moment, they can do no wrong!
Have you tried this foundation? How did you find it?
